Press release from Glenview Square Dance Club:
July 26, 2021
Glenview Square Dance Club plans to add ‘social’ back to post-pandemic life by teaching area residents the most social of dances, square dancing. The club has organized a series of dance events taking place over the next few weeks in Morton Grove and Glenview.

Glenview Squares members hope the samplers will attract more people to try Square Dancing. “People all over the world are excited about this activity that requires teamwork to execute moves called out in time to music. Think Simon Says for adults,” says Joy Nachtrab, Glenview Squares club co-president. “There’s lots of laughing when things go wrong, celebration when we do the moves correctly, and throughout, friendships that develop from a shared interest.”
Upcoming ‘Intro to Social Square Dance’ Events
Glenview Squares has scheduled four free events to introduce people to square dancing. No experience needed, and singles and couples can take part. Attendees should be ready for brisk walking in time to music. The events will take place both indoors and outdoors.

Lessons Start in September
Starting in September, Glenview Squares will be offering weekly Social Square Dance lessons on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm at the Glenview Park Center. Learning the square dance moves is needed in order to attend local dances. The calls, about 50 in all, are taught in a number of weeks.
“Square dancing is one of the best kept secrets when it comes to meeting new people, using your head and enjoying some fun exercise,” says club member Myrnice Ravitch, who met her significant other at square dance lessons.
